Educating for Life & Eternity

A Christ-centered education that equips students to be the salt and light in a rapidly decaying world.

Our Story

Where it all began

Word of Life International School (WOLIS) was born out of vision, prayer, and conviction. Twenty years ago, founders Thomas and Faith Obunde arrived in Uganda and discerned the need for an affordable Christian school that would combine a strong international curriculum with a living faith. After many sleepless nights spent in prayer and careful planning, they opened the doors of a modest three-bedroom house in Ntinda. At that first open house, parents entrusted their 21 children to this new community of faith and learning.

What began as a small, faith-driven initiative has since grown into a thriving institution of 300+ students. The school’s expansion from a handful of classrooms to a diverse community reflects the enduring conviction that every child must be known, loved, and equipped to live a life of purpose.

Today, WOLIS continues to grow term by term, guided by the same founding vision: that hearts nurtured in grace and truth go on to change the world. The school remains committed to rigorous academics, holistic Christian formation, and the values of love, service, and respect that have shaped its journey from the very beginning.
